John Lum Architecture is a 8-person firm located in a converted laundry machine factory in the Mission District of San Francisco. Established in 1994, we have successfully completed over 500 architectural projects, ranging from high-end commercial interiors and retail environments, to new residential construction and remodels. The firm is a multi-faceted practice with a capacity and interest to take on large and small projects, depending on the client. In addition to architectural work, we offer services in interior design, furniture, lighting, and color.

John Lum Architecture has been recognized for its high-end retail and restaurant interiors, while our residential projects have been lauded for innovative green design and livability. Maintaining a practice based on smaller projects and addition/remodels to existing residences, the firm has grown in capacity and experience designing larger, multi-unit projects and highly detailed, custom homes.

We are proud to have won numerous awards and garnished media attention for our projects, including the groundbreaking restaurants Asia SF, Hayes and Vine Wine Bar, and the Urban Eyes Optometry office.

Without compromising aesthetics, John Lum Architecture is strongly committed to green development in the Bay Area. Our efforts to promote environmentally-sustainable practices and green building methods were highlighted in 2008 at the Sunset Magazine Idea Home, recognized by the National AIA as one of the 10 greenest buildings in San Francisco. Another recently completed residence features the first permitted rain water/gray water usage system in San Francisco, making this project one of the highest Green Point rated homes in California.
