Based on abstract imagery of the seashore, the Café Maritime invokes images of a tranquil summer seascape, utilizing a cool color palette of sand, sea foam and sky blue. A large curvaceous banquette, evocative of a curling wave, is the main focus of the room, with a back composed of a steel and plastic tubing armature that recalls beach chairs. A boat-shaped bar welcomes patrons as they arrive, its glulamed construction inviting the touch with its finely crafted surface. Soft lighting along the painted wainscoting highlights an abstract seascape mural. Designed to be a locale that appeals to Bay Area residents, the interior is sophisticated in its imagery, yet simple and down to earth to complement the fresh ingredients used in the restaurant cuisine. |
